Some books are to be tasted, others to be swallowed, and some few to be chewed and digested.
I've always had a passion for writing, and having recently retired from a public service career, took up the pen (well keyboard) on a permanent basis. I’m now about two thirds of the way through writing my first novel, Ghost in the Machine - book one in a planned series of four I’m calling ‘The Sum of our Parts’ which will span several centuries and examine (through a neo-cyberpunk lens) how human society changes as the gap between our physical existence and technology narrows. Hopefully, the title won’t be lost on lovers of philosophy; Rene Descartes and Gilbert Ryle inspired the work.
The first book is set in the near future, and follows events after a wetware specialist, Eric Thorne, accidentally discovers a way to digitise human consciousness. I appreciate that what I have posted here doesn't give you much to go on, but please do let me know what you think. I’m planning to publish in 2023 and have added the prologue, along with a taster of chapter one, below.
…. It goes without saying of course, but if you're a publisher who happens to have stumbled upon these pages, and want to get in early (to avoid the stampede), don't hesitate to give me a shout 😀
Best wishes to all, and once again, thanks for the visit (I’ll update more soon),
Marcus

I also have a chapbook called ‘The Scribbler Manifesto’ available on Amazon. It’s a tip of the hat to Dr Seuss published in 2021 to get a feel for Amazon’s KDP:
